Like clockwork, the guilt and frustration penetrated my mind.

Smoke blackened the sky.

The aroma of burnt rubber was so thick I could taste it.

Hearing the sounds of heartache and sorrow echoed.

Was it the loud radio,

Was it the phone call,

Was it Social media,

Or was it alcohol?

Vivid images of two automobiles colliding at the median of a major intersection,

And the blood of someone else’s love one splattered across the pavement like red paint

The rapid-paced beating out my shirt like a fighter preparing for their match

As the droplets of water, DNA, and agony

Raced down my skin and absorb into my work uniform

The obsession of my guilt and frustration

Was like gasping for fresh air at the bottom of the ocean

Time rewinds and reminds me of the smoke that blackened the sky

The aroma of burnt rubber was so thick I could taste it

And hearing the sounds of heartache and sorrow echoed

Was it the loud radio,

Was it the phone call,

Was it Social media,

Or was it alcohol?
