Flowers for your dance recital

Flowers for your dance recital Now spread on the road Now spread on your grave You were with your friend Driving to the end She picked up her phone And you looked over Lost control of the wheel Lost control of the car Lost control of your life Your parents were coming later The biggest celebrators Ready to see you shine With flowers and surprises You had been distracted How had all this happened You hit another car Then smashed into a wall The life was taken from you and your friend Distracted driving caused it to end Your parents now pull up on the damage The pain they feel they cannot manage The flowers for your dance recital Now spread on the road Now spread on your grave Celebrating your death instead of life

Description

This poem shows the powerful impact that distracted driving has. As the child drives her and her friend to their dance recital they become distracted with their phones and it causes a collision.
