Safe and Responsible Driving

One of the scariest things about driving is when you are driving around other motorists that are texting and driving. Nobody wants to be the victim of a car accident, especially if it is the result of one of the drivers texting or drinking while operating their vehicle. The first thing that needs to be done is to introduce new technologies into every new automobile that is sold in the United States. Those new technologies would include a sensor in the vehicle that would sense a cell phone in use while driving. The driver would not be able to use their cell phone until they stop and the vehicle is in park with the parking brake applied. In order to prevent confusion, a similar technology should be introduced on the cell phone itself that would work in tandem with the car technology in order to prevent people from using their phones while driving. The second thing that should be done is to offer free classes educating people on the dangers of distracted driving. In areas where there are already classes like that, the fee should be taken away and the class could be made more effective with more material to learn and interactive, real-life scenarios. The free classes, in general, should offer the dangers of texting, drinking, and being fatigued behind the wheel. There could also be a panel of people who come into one of the classes and present their emotional stories of loved ones who have passed away due to the reckless and distracted driving of others. Overall, the issue of distracted driving must be solved. We as a society cannot have any more pain inflicted on us due to poor driving by careless and dangerous drivers. If this problem is solved, our roads will be much safer and all of us will be able to drive with peace of mind.
