Haunted

I am guilt. I haunt people’s thoughts in the dark of night and light of day alike. As of late I have followed an ever increasing, staggering number of teenagers around. Why so many young people you ask. Why should the youth be troubled with such a heavy burden? Because they had to check their text message while behind the wheel. Because they had to see who liked their post. Because they did not make sure their passenger was wearing their seatbelt. Because they turned to look at their neighbor. Because they wanted to observe that deer on the side of the road. Because they disregarded the stop sign. Because they drove with closing eyelids. The few teenagers in car crashes I do not get to haunt are given over to my good friend, death. He will tell you the rest. I am death. I swallow people whole. Recently I have taken many teens into my arms. Why so many young people you may ask. Why should I devour teens who presumably have their whole lives before them? Because they had to check their text message. Because they had to see who liked their post. Because they didn’t wear their seatbelt. Because they turned to look at their neighbor. Because they had to look at the deer on the side of the road. Because they disregarded the Stop sign. Because they drove with closing eyelids. We are death and guilt and we have given our services to countless teens as of late on account of distracted and irresponsible driving.
