College is supposed to be the best time of your life. You begin living in a new place, provided with new opportunities, and get to make many of your own decisions without worrying about your parents. There are opportunities to party, to succeed, and to grow as the person you want to become. You meet your friends for life, a spouse, and many other connections that may help you down the road. But what if you woke up one day and your best friend had been killed in a car wreck? Driving recklessly not only affects the person in the vehicle but the innocent bystanders around it as well. There are so many statistics about drunk driving or wrecks caused by cell phones. We do not take the immense threat seriously until we learn the hard way. As leaders we can stand up and figure out how we want to influence our peers so that they may understand how big of a deal the situation is. It can hurt anyone whether you choose to participate in the bad things or not. Simple actions can show the world what one person is truly capable of. The first step is you.
