Shine For Shane
My best friend was killed in a car accident on the way home from our prom, her senior year of high school. Her mom was driving down a street with Shane in the passenger seat, when a man driving 40 miles over the speed limit T-Boned their car. The man was completely sober and Shane was killed on impact. Upon telling my then boyfriend about her death, and he had just met her for the first time on prom night, his response was “It happens all of the time, you just need to get over it.” In order to end this, we need to stop making these events so normal, these are still losses, despite how often they happen, more so even.
This is about my friend Shane, who died two years ago.
