Know what you’re getting into Excuses don’t mean a thing Enjoy yourself, have fun but Promise me you’ll be here by 9 PM You were always a smart kid Out on the town every night, Undisturbed by the world, yet Remember what you said to me? Every minute, another text from you You said you will be on your way soon Explain yourself, I replied So you said to me “On my way” at nine-fifteen “Nine o’clock is too early for me” “The speed limit doesn’t matter” “Hitting the gas pedal right now” “Everything will be okay.” Roads are dangerous at night Oh, just be careful, please Answer me, I’m getting worried Did you get my text?

Description

This is an acrostic poem, spelling “KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD” during a text exchange between a parent and a child driving home.
