Q: I’m not sure if I am eligible to enter this contest. Who is eligible?

Q: How do I know if my students are eligible to enter the contest?
A: Teachers or advisors will be able to work with high school students from traditional public, charter, private, and other approved high schools that are recognized and can be verified by the appropriate state’s Department of Education. Other public agencies (e.g., first responders and health professionals) may partner with a verifiable school and will be approved on a case-by-case basis.

Q: What happens after a teacher or advisor submits an application?
A: Your application will be reviewed by the Impact Teen Drivers team to determine eligibility. Within 48 hours of your submission, you will receive a phone call and/or email from an Impact Teen Drivers’ team member to confirm eligibility.

Q: When can we begin to work on our campaign?
A: Once you receive confirmation that your school is eligible to enter the contest, your team can begin the action planning portion of the project. This is when you will start researching the topic, decide the roles and responsibilities of the student team members, and start reaching out to other community groups to partner with you. You can submit your application to participate as early as August 24, 2020 and the deadline for submitting your campaign video and press release is November 12, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. PT.

Q: How many students can participate in the contest?
A: This is up to the teacher or advisor. There is no minimum or maximum number of student requirement, but the teacher or advisor should decide what type of project management will work for them.

Q: When does the contest begin and end?
A: The contest is open from August 24, 2020, to November 12, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. PT.

Q: How do teachers or advisors submit the video, and press release?
A: The video and press release must be submitted via email info@impactteendrivers.org on or before the closing date of the Create Real Impact contest: November 12, 2020, by 4:00 p.m. PT.

Q: If my campaign makes it to the final round, what do I submit as a teacher or advisor?
A: Impact Teen Drivers will notify up to 10 Distracted Driving Social Media campaigns that they have been selected as finalists by the judges in round one no later than November 16, 2020. Teachers or advisors will work with their students to select their top 15 best social media content that was used in the campaign. Teachers or advisors will be responsible for sharing those items via a Google Drive folder provided by Impact Teen Drivers. In the final round, campaigns will be judged on the video, press release, and top 15 best social media content items.

Q: How will our campaign be judged?
A: That’s a great question. Entries will be judged in two rounds. 10 finalists will be chosen in the first round, and first, second, and third prize winners will be chosen in the final round. In round one of judging, the video and press release will determine if the campaign is selected to move on to the final round of judging.

Q: When will the winners be announced?
A: Winners will be announced on or before November 30, 2020.
